Part of the mint family, oregano has a warm peppery zing which is well preserved in dried form. Together with basil, oregano contributes much to the distinctive flavour of many Italian and Greek dishes. This herb pairs very well with ingredients such as tomato, olives, capers, lemon and olive oil. Add to pizza and pasta sauces, Greek salad dressing, and grilled lamb or vegetables.
